Description
The Australian Silver Kookaburra series from the Perth Mint began in 1990 and is the longest-running bullion program from the mint. Each year features new artistry of a Kookaburra on the reverse side of the 99.99% pure silver coin. Once called the "guuguubaraa" by the indigenous Wiradjuri of New South Wales, the Australian Kookaburra is an artistic symbol of the Australian Outback.
The 2023 release shows two kookaburra's perched on branches surrounding waratah, a native floral treasure. All coin designs incorporate the inscription 'KOOKABURRA', The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark, the 2023 year-date, the weight and purity.
The obverse of each coin bears the Jody Clark effigy, of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
